Frequently asked questions

Practical answers for families before and after an appointment.

These answers explain the practice process. They do not replace individual clinical advice.

How do I request a first appointment?

Use the online booking page to choose an available centre, date and time, or call the practice on +27 72 637 5853. The practice team aims to contact you within one business day. The online request is not confirmed until the Practice Manager approves it.

What if my child has just been diagnosed and needs an urgent specialist appointment?

Select “New patient / newly diagnosed” on the booking form and call the practice after submitting. For an immediate or life-threatening emergency, do not wait for the website or WhatsApp; use the appropriate emergency service or treating hospital.

What should I bring to the first consultation?

Bring the referral letter if available, relevant blood-test and pathology results, imaging reports, hospital discharge summaries, a current medication list, medical-scheme details and identification documents normally required by the practice. A short written list of your questions can also help.

Can I send medical reports through WhatsApp or the accounts email?

No. Use WhatsApp only to request contact or coordinate with the practice. Do not send clinical records, patient identifiers or medical documents to the accounts mailbox. The practice team will advise the appropriate secure route.

How do returning patients request follow-up, results or management-plan discussions?

Use the same booking page and choose the appropriate appointment type. This helps the Practice Manager distinguish follow-up and results-related requests from new-patient bookings.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Contact the practice as soon as possible by telephone or WhatsApp. The team can release the reserved time and help identify another available slot.

Where does Dr Mathibe practise?

Muelmed and Busamed Modderfontein include hospital care and consulting rooms. Medforum and Sunninghill are hospital-only service centres. Always confirm the location before travelling.

Which medical schemes are accepted?

The practice publishes its current contract/network reference on the Patient Information page. It is an administrative guide rather than a guarantee of benefits or payment. Always confirm your own plan, network, PMB and authorisation rules with the medical scheme. Account queries can be sent to accounts@jimbaleconsulting.co.za.

How are results or medication questions handled?

Contact the practice to arrange the appropriate clinical discussion or follow-up. Do not use the public booking form for detailed clinical information. Urgent medical concerns should be directed to the treating clinical team or appropriate emergency service.

Is Little Warriors Cancer Foundation part of the medical practice?

No. The Foundation is a separate support initiative. It does not automatically receive or have access to the practice’s patient information, and Foundation support is separate from clinical treatment decisions.

What languages are spoken by the practice team?

The doctor and support personnel speak English, Sotho (Sesotho), Zulu (isiZulu), Afrikaans, Xhosa (isiXhosa). Dr Mathibe and support personnel speak these languages and also understand most of South Africa’s official languages.

What are the practice registration details?

HPCSA: MP 0666955. BHF practice number: 0906069. Referring clinicians can use mothusimathibe@gmail.com for referral correspondence.
